It's Morning [Paperback]`Never As Good As the First Time' reconnects lovers Melinda and Germaine. They'd always believed that they would be together forever and when things changed, they both went about living their lives. When they see one another at their class reunion, it's apparent that their feelings are still the same. What happens when you revisit the past for too long? When life grants Germaine and Melinda an opportunity for another chance, will they take it?Or has love finally proven itself wrong?

`The Letter' is written by Mahogany, a single sista who has a severe liking for her neighbor.Unfortunately, she hasn't had the courage to approach him and has decided to simply jot everything down and let him get to know her from inside out.Regrettably the letter is lost, but not unread. Will intrigue introduce Mahogany to other possibilities?

`Daddy's Maybe' tells the tale of Kendra and Calvin.New to Kansas , the young couple has had some trouble, but Calvin is trying to remain optimistic. He loves Kendra and just wants to take care of her. When he is unable to fulfill Kendra's need for a twist, she finds another who is more than willing to wash her blues away.First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes Kendra with an unknown baby carriage. Will love prevail?

While reading `It's Morning,' an anthology written by Elaine Flowers, I too kept referring back to Shirley Murdock's classic.I am not a fan of anthologies and I didn't see a need to read an anthology written by just one author. However, I did like all of the stories.I would have to say that `The Letter' was the best and it was a snippet, if that.I enjoyed the way the author was able to draw out the drama, but each story, while loving, is very predictable.I would recommend to others and hope that in the next sitting it's a full book.

Confession (Z Graphic Novels / Hand of the Morning Star) (v. 3) [Paperback] Review

Confession [Paperback]These graphic novels have captured my kids interest. They are also subtling teaching us something.Satan is referred to as the star of the morning in Isaiah.I do not believe that the Morningstar is Jesus, but Satan masquerading as an angel of light.I believe that in the books to come Zondervan will reveal this more fully.Clues, such as not praying to Jesus, but Morningstar, evolutionary comments, killing just to kill, these are not how Jesus operates. The missionary & his daughter in Argentina are seeing this also.I love the books,as do my kids, and I believe that it will show us not to just blindly trust in those who claim to be of God.

Wings of the Morning (Kensington Chronicles, Book 2) (Paperback) Review

Wings of the MorningLori Wick certainly is one of my favorite Christian/Romance writers, coming up to a close second to Dee Henderson. And probably my favorite books from Lori Wick are the Kensington Chronicles.
"Wings of the Morning" is about young Victoria "Smokey" Simmons, captain of one of the fastest ship of the Atlantic, the 'Aramis'. When her father, the famous Clancy, had died and left her alone in the world, she asks God to give her strength. Three years have passed and Smokey begins dreaming of life away from the sea. She wants to have a home and raise a family. When she meets another sea captain, Dallas Knight, she believes that her dreams can finally come true. Dallas, also hopelessly in love with her, shares her dreams. But when a scheming and evil pirate comes into their lives, Smokey and Dallas' hopes for the future may come to an end. Will they have the strength to overcome these painful events and to trust themselves into their Father in heaven?
A truly marvelous tale taking place in the mid-1800s, "Wings of the Morning" will have you swept into a world of romance and suspense. I love the wonderful characters of Smokey, who is young and shy yet has great spirit, and Dallas, who will do anything to protect her. They are so real that it is very hard not to like them and to hope they have their dreams fulfilled.
The other three books of the Kensington Chronicles are "The Hawk and the Jewel", "Who Brings Forth the Wind", and "The Knight and the Dove", all of them filled with romance and suspense, plus they all are about people who love and honor their God. My suggestion to you is that if you have never read any of Lori Wick's books, you should start with these four books.
And if you are looking for other terrific Christian/Romance books, I recommend all books by Dee Henderson, including the O'Malley Series, "Danger in the Shadows", and the Uncommon Heroes Series. But be ready for suspense, intrigue, and mystery, because these books are filled with them!

Joy Comes in the Morning: A Novel [Bargain Price] [Paperback] Review

Joy Comes in the Morning: A Novel [Paperback]The first thing that the reader notes is the book is impossible to put down.Mr. Rosen builds a special rapport with the reader that makes his story compelling. The reader is left each time the book is put down, with the irresistible urge to find out what will happen next.

Rosen tells a wonderful and realistic tale of a Reform Woman Rabbi in Manhattan. The book describes her relationship to the Jewish faith, from a Reform Perspective. This perspective is a difficult one, as the concept of Reform Judaism has at its core, the same beliefs as all Judaism, but tempered by a modern interpretation of the scriptures that lends itself more easily to the combination of civil and religious life in the vast Materialistic and Capitalistic and Cacophonous reality of modern society.

Yet Deborah, the lady Rabbi who is the protagonist of Rosen's story, does not in any way lack spiritualism or connection to her faith. She has a great and mighty dedication to her beliefs. And she does her utmost to convey that feeling to her congregants and to all that she may meet. Some would say, that she made some very rash decisions and took some very unorthodox actions within Rosen's story. But this is for the reader to evaluate in the privacy of the mind.

One thing is clearly true. The book shows the stark contrast and the interesting co-existence of human Joy and human Sadness, as they live within us, all the time, yet most of the time, they balance within us to make us a whole person. When that balance is no longer within our control, we lose our ability to moderate that and we also lose our ability to operate in regular day to day society.

Rosen is acutely wonderful at illustrating this dichotomy in his book. For all who have struggled with the concepts of the different forms of Judaism, this book offers a new perspective; a perspective that puts the power of decision and free choice back into the individual's mind and heart, and not into anyone else's.

The book is highly recommended for all with any interest whatsoever in theology and the concept of God.Regardless of one's religion, one can related to the stark, yet gentle realism of Rosen's work.
